I was mowing
our backyard one day when my son Timmy emerged from the back door
with his plastic lawnmower--the kind that blows bubbles. He was
two at the time. Unfortunately, Timmy kept getting too close to my
mower. I had no bag attached so he was in danger of being injured
by flying debris. Several times I picked him up and gently moved
him away. Each time I told him that I wanted him to be with me but
that he needed to stay away from the "big mower." Timmy couldn’t
understand. Eventually he burst into tears and ran into the house.
I’m not sure which of us was more upset.
Parents do many things for the good of their children which do
not appear good to the children. The same is true of the best
Parent of all. I believe Proverbs 3:5 is one of the most important
of all verses for us to obey: "Trust in the Lord with all your
heart, and lean not on your own understanding." Regardless of
appearances, God always seeks our best interests.
In the following song, Babbie Mason and Eddie Carswell
encourage us to "trust His heart."
All things work for our good
Though sometimes we can't see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what's best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just can't see Him
Remember you're never alone
Chorus:
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
TRUST HIS HEART
He sees the master plan
He holds our future in His hands
So don't live as those who have no hope
All our hope is found in Him
We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last
And like a tapestry
He's weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him
Chorus
He alone is faithful and true
He alone know what is best for you
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
TRUST HIS HEART
