Although all Christians will be welcomed into heaven because of their faith in Christ, some will hear the words "Well done, good and faithful servant," and some will not. Some will "enter into the joy of our Master," and some will not.1 Some will "take hold of the life which is life indeed," and some will not.2 Some will wear crowns indicative of the Father's pleasure, and some will not.3 This is very serious indeed!

People do not earn reward after they get to heaven. According to 2 Cor. 5:1O, the rewards are for the "deeds done in the body." Your role in heaven forever is determined solely by how you live this life. The importance of how you live this life cannot be overstated.

Let's make it our ambition to please God and to invest our lives in eternal things.

You are God's field, God's building...no one can lay any foundation other than...Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay or stubble, his work will be shown for what it is, for the Day will disclose it. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. (1 Cor. 9:3-15)
